Sustainability Challenges

Below are some of the challenges that our generation and certainly the following generations will need to face. Also see our Sustainability Opportunities section for positive actions that can be taken to help address these challenges.

Climate Change
Climate Change is a long term (at least decades) variation from expected weather averages. It can be natural or, as indicated by current scientific thinking, influenced by man in the form of global warming from the burning of fossil fuels and the polluting of our physical environment.
Global Financial Crisis
The "Global Financial Crisis" or "GFC" seem to have become the default terms for what has been variously described as: Global Economic Crisis, World Financial Crisis, World Economic Crisis, Financial Meltdown, Economic Meltdown, recession, or depression.
Peak Oil
Peak Oil is the moment when the maximum amount of petroleum production is reached before it then starts to fall. The concept may be applied to an individual well, an oil field, a country or the whole world.
Scarce Resources
The competing demands for fresh water, land and unpolluted air.
